About Laps
Laps is a swim tracker for iPhone and Android that turns your pool times into a score. Every timed swim is rated on the 0–1000 points scale swimming uses, and you are ranked against your friends and swimmers around the world. Most swim apps tell you how far you went. Laps tells you how good the swim was.
Download Laps on the App Store or Google Play.
Who Laps is for
- Pool swimmers who want to get faster and want a number that shows it.
- Masters and club swimmers who like to see where they stand.
- Friends who swim and want a friendly leaderboard between them.
- Beginners who want structure. The training plans start from first lengths.
What makes it different
A score that means something
Timed trials are scored on the published World Aquatics 0–1000 points tables, by event and by pool length, the same scale used to compare swims in competition. Your rank climbs through tiers from Bronze to Olympian as you keep swimming, so it rewards turning up often, not one lucky swim. Try it on a time of your own with the free swimming points calculator.
Leaderboards
A friends board, a global board and, with Laps Pro, a regional board. Friendship goes both ways, so nobody appears on your board without agreeing to it, and a private account stays private.
Streaks built for swimmers
Nobody swims every single day. In Laps a streak stays alive as long as you swim at least once every four days, and rest days count towards it.
Two ways to record
Log a casual session in seconds, or run a timed trial that counts towards your rank. Personal bests are kept for every event you swim.
Training plans
Nine plans and over 100 workouts, from first lengths to sprint sets, written for real pool sessions. Included with Laps Pro.
In seven languages
English, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Russian and Japanese.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best swim tracker app?
It depends on what you want to track. If you want your pool times scored and ranked against friends and other swimmers, with a streak that allows rest days, Laps is built for exactly that. If you mainly want laps counted automatically by a smartwatch, use your watch's own swim app, because Laps does not sync with watches yet.
How does Laps score my swims?
A timed trial is scored on the published World Aquatics 0–1000 points tables, by event and by pool length. That score sets your ceiling, the highest rank your times can reach, and your points climb towards it as you keep swimming. Laps is not affiliated with World Aquatics.
Is Laps free?
Yes. Recording swims, streaks, personal bests and the friends and global leaderboards are free. Laps Pro is an optional monthly or yearly subscription that adds your full points history, training plans, rank projections and regional leaderboards, with a free trial for new subscribers.
Does Laps work with Apple Watch or Garmin?
Not yet. Apple Health, Health Connect, Garmin and Strava connections are planned. For now every swim is recorded in the Laps app itself.
How do streaks work in Laps?
Swim at least once every four days and your streak stays alive. Rest days count towards it, because that is how swimmers train. Two streak savers a month, three with Laps Pro, stretch the gap to six days.
Is Laps on Android?
Yes. Laps is on Google Play for Android phones and on the App Store for iPhone.
Can I get my swim data out of Laps?
Yes. Settings, Privacy, Export my swims saves every swim to a CSV file you can open in a spreadsheet.
